Student Stories

From India to Korea

Hear from I-KETS students who made it to Korean universities.

I-KETS helped me clear TOPIK Level 4 and guided me through the entire GKS application. I'm now studying Computer Science at Kyung Hee University on a full scholarship. Their personal statement coaching made all the difference.

Priya Sharma GKS Scholar, Kyung Hee University

From zero Korean to TOPIK Level 3 in 5 months — the structured TOPIK prep program at I-KETS was incredibly effective. The mock tests and section-wise strategy sessions prepared me thoroughly for the actual exam.

Arjun Reddy TOPIK Level 3, Studying at Yonsei University

The visa and pre-departure support from I-KETS was invaluable. They helped with every document, every form, and even connected me with their alumni in Seoul before I arrived. I felt fully prepared from day one.

Frequently Asked Questions

TOPIK & GKS FAQ

Answers to the most common questions from Indian students about studying in Korea.

Most Korean universities require TOPIK Level 3 (score 120+) for undergraduate admissions and Level 4 (score 150+) for graduate programs. Some top universities like Seoul National University or KAIST may require Level 5 or higher. For GKS scholarship applicants, having TOPIK Level 3+ significantly strengthens your application even though it is not strictly mandatory.
Yes. The GKS program includes 1 year of Korean language training before your degree program begins. You do not need to know Korean at the time of application. However, having a TOPIK score improves your application ranking, and students who arrive with some Korean foundation tend to adapt faster to university life.
India typically receives 15–25 GKS-U slots per year through the Embassy Track, with several hundred applicants. The University Track has additional slots but varies by university. Key factors that strengthen your application: strong academics (above 80%), a well-crafted study plan, recommendation letters, and TOPIK certification. I-KETS' guided approach has helped multiple students secure GKS successfully.
We recommend starting 4–6 months before your target exam date. For complete beginners aiming for TOPIK I (Levels 1–2), 3–4 months of focused study is sufficient. For TOPIK II (Levels 3–6), plan for at least 6 months of preparation including our intensive mock test sessions. The exam is held in April and October in India, so plan your timeline accordingly.
For a D-2 student visa, you will need: university admission letter, financial proof (bank statement showing approximately ₹8–10 lakh), valid passport, completed visa application form, passport-sized photos, academic transcripts, and a study plan. GKS scholars get visa support directly from NIIED. I-KETS assists with document preparation and visa application for all study-abroad students.
